I am a warm and friendly, very calm person who finds deep satisfaction in helping people grow peaceful, healthy relationships. My clients say that I listen very attentively and that I help them see patterns in their life that they might have missed.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate in the state of Texas, and I am also a married mother of two teenagers (17 and 15) and two elementary school children (10 and 8). I earned my master’s degree in Counseling with a special focus in Marriage and Family Therapy from LeTourneau University.
My husband and I have been married for just over 21 years, and we have often served as key presenting speakers on marriage and parenting. Our audiences have ranged from National Marriage Encounter conference attendees to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmates and their spouses and children. We believe that families of all shapes and sizes can learn to communicate in a healthy way.
One of the things that my husband and I love most about our own family is that our children came to us through both birth and adoption. We have enjoyed learning all about birth family and adoptive family experiences through both personal experience and professional training, and I am passionate about helping all members of the adoption family triad find ways to experience peace and wholeness in their relationships.
I also have deep experience in helping families who are experiencing problems that come from perceived cultural and racial differences. I value all cultures and the diversity that they bring to families, and I enjoy helping families create their own unique family cultures.
In my practice, you will notice quickly that one of my guiding principles is that the whole family is affected by the trouble any one family member experiences. As a family systems counselor, I believe that working through solutions often involves more than just the person who might come to me for help first. I also often use cognitive behavior therapy and dialactical behavior therapy to help families achieve healthy change.
I would love to speak with you soon in my office to find out how I can help you with your personal or family relationship goals.
